When Barnes & Noble introduced their "Nook" in late 2009, it was further evidence that electronic book readers have arrived in a big way! The Nook has a colour touchscreen and runs on Google's Android operating system, which allows third-party apps.

The Nook holds up to 1,500 e-books, and can share e-books with other Nooks, computers and smartphones that do not use the same book-buying account. That can not be done with Kindle or Sony Readers!

The Nook was such a hit when it was launched in December 09 that Barnes and Noble ranickly and had to post messages on their site that none were available in time for the Holiday Seasn. They accepted pre-orders for the new year.
